Meet-up #5 was a huge success! I meet some awesome new ladies and was delighted that they decided to join us! Hair Garden’s hair meet-up was held at Hair Garden at 138 8th Street on Sunday, July 29 from 5:30 to 7:30. We had good food and laughs, but we also discussed some serious issues and learned a lot of great information!
We started off discussing the theme of the meet-up. There were several different and beautiful hair styles and being worn by the attendees that evening. Everyone was at a different point of their journey when it came to their hair but we still could relate on a lot of things! We all agreed on the fact that people should be able to express themselves without it being considered a fad! We also agreed that wanting to be healthier was not a fad!
Other topics we discussed included natural hair in the media, summer hair care, protective styles, children’s hair, new styles trends and products. I even got some people to volunteer to be models for future classes I plan to give.
I had some questions for the ladies to promote open discussion: Who is your hair inspiration? Why? What is your favorite quote about hair? Is there something you always wanted to try on your but are afraid to? What is something you have heard about natural hair that you have learned to be untrue or false? What is your favorite thing about your hair? Why do you think so many women bond over their hair now that they are natural more than they did when they were relaxed? What would you like to see more of when it comes to natural hceived many amazing answers. In between the questions,we stopped and did drawings for giveaways. I gave away some product samples,Hair Garden hair accessories, and black soap! We had some great deviled eggs and cupcakes made my Tiffany Shaw and some awesome chicken salad made by Sylvia Moore. I made the taco dip!
We had a really great time and I am working on the next meet-up. I hope to see you at the next meet up! Blessings!
