Hello, lovelies! Back in early spring, I had the honor of being interviewed by the one of the owners of Paris Hair and Beauty Supplies! They came down to participate in the Taliah Waajid Natural Hair and Beauty Expo, which I was teaching classes at so I got the chance to meet and sit down with them!
It was a very exciting experience! We discussed my company and my products in this interview. It has been broken up into different topics which I will be posting!
Greetings, my dears! Back in May 2010 (😰), I did my original post about dusting my ends (link). I had always been urged to do a video but just could never get it together!! Well, SURPRISE!! I finally did a quick, last-minute video of me dusting my ends.
Just as a refresher, dusting is like trimming your ends but not taking as much off. I personally have 4 classifications for cutting when it comes to my hair!
1. Spot cutting- That’s cutting a knot out here and there or where you see a problem area.
2. Dusting- Cutting about an inch or less of your ends to reduce tangles and shedding.
3. Trim- removing and inch or more of your ends. You are not cutting to achieve a style, just to remove the dead ends. (This can be done to refresh a cut!)
4. Hair cut- This is cutting to remove bulk and/or to achieve a particular look or style.
Moving back to dusting, I have a short little video showing how I usually dust. I also have it uploaded on my YouTube channel so if you don’t already follow me (The Hair Garden), please do!😊
I hope you found the video helpful! I am excited to finally share more of my natural hair regimen with you all! I can’t wait to post the next video! Thanks for stopping by!
Hello, beauties! Anyone who has known me for a while knows I love a good hair accessory! My original go-to was always some sort of flower. I would get creative and create all types of designs! I had a variety of flower adorned combs, clips and pins.
One day I had an accident with my hot glue gun and decided to shelve my hairdos making project for a while.
Now I am ready to create again, only very carefully this time! Ha ha! I have started making a few headbands and clips so far. What do you think?
I’ll post more of my accessories as they come along! Thanks for stopping in!
Greetings, all! A few months back, I told you a that I had a product makeover happening for 3 of Hair Garden’s products. Well, the items have been tested by myself and you all and has been approved!
The first 2 items that I was most excited about are the cleansers! My soothing mint and mango punch cleansers are now whipped!
I was having trouble with the consistency and viscosity of the product and wasn’t satisfied with the results although the product worked well for me.
My new formula is more of a cream/paste texture as opposed to the former liquid.
Also, the Hair Juice formula is pretty much the same, I just increased the oil content and added mango butter to enhance softness. I had some customers bring a few things to my attention and I tweaked it! I also offer an alternative to the citrus scent. I now offer bamboo. It is a clean scent similar to the Avocado Shea moisturizer but not as sweet.
I am happy with the new changes and additions to The Hair Garden Nursery’s product lineup and I will continue to add more!
I offer sample sets that include a cleanser, conditioner, herbal oil, moisturizer and mist for $9.
These items can be purchased at my Etsy shop! Click here to visit The Hair Garden Nursery! Sales will be offered for the holiday season.
*Disclaimer: I am not advising towards or advocating anyone to stop wrapping up their hair at night. This is merely an account of a carefree natural!
Greetings, my lovely people! It has been a while since I dropped in, as usual, but I do have quite a bit of updating to do along the next couple of days! I have added some brand new items to the Hair Garden Nursery and I have also revisited and restocked some items from the past!!
The first set of Hair Garden’s hair care items I want to share are the new sleep care accessories! I decided to break in my sewing machine and have created lovely satin-lined pillows and bonnets to protect your hair while you rest!
Personally, I DO NOT wrap my hair at night unless it is completely necessary. In the past, I couldn’t sleep well unless my hair was secured. However, time passed and I would occasionally go to sleep without securing my hair, especially in the warmer months! There would be some nights where I would awaken suddenly from discomfort only to find that my scarf was soaked with sweat therefore causing my hair to be damp with sweat. That defeated the purpose of protecting my hair style overnight, right?
After a few of those occurrences, I stopped wrapping my hair at night and I loved it!!! It has been about 7 years since I last tied my hair on a regular basis. With the assistance of satin pillowcases, I was able to pull off avoiding that nightly routine. Occasionally, I would wear a bonnet or wrap if the hair style absolutely called for it.
Now, we all know that I love my African fabric! I acquired some lovely material when I visited Ghana last year to make my own pillows, headwraps and other crafts but had a time getting to know my sewing machine! After a break and determination I got that machine running and started my pillows and bonnets! I started small and moved up in size.
I picked the finest, high-quality satin I could find to go with the African fabric and the rest speaks for itself!
I am proud to add these lovely additions to The Hair Garden Nursery’s line-up in my Etsy shop! I offer pillowcases ranging from $15-35, full pillows range from $25-50. All offer free shipping for a limited time!

Hello, my loves!!! If you follow me on Etsy, Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, you’ve probably already seen that I am improving some existing products and introducing a new item to the line up!
A lot of my process in perfecting my product making is trial and error and please believe I have made a LOT of errors!! 😅
It took a little while to find the right ingredients because I wanted to stay as close to quality and natural ingredients as possible.
I’m excited to let you all know that I have completed my personal test runs and am ready to get these new items out to you all! Only 2 oz sizes will be available for the first couple of weeks and then 8 and 16 oz.
There will be some awesome sales going on as I finish off my old inventory to make place for the new items. I will be posting promo codes and having special sale listings!
I can’t wait to introduce these new items to you all! Thanks for all your support!
Hello, my lovely people! Oh, how I have missed you all! I have been on a hiatus but am now back to work! I filmed my 1st commercial ad specifically for Paris Hair and Beauty Supplies, the beauty supply store that carries my products! I was pretty proud of the outcome so I wanted to share it with you all!
I introduce 2 of my new products as well- Mango Punch Cleanser and Euca-Mint Conditioner! I will be making another one soon because I have some other hair treats I am working on!
I hope you liked it! I will be updating again pretty soon!
Hello, lovely people! Just wanted to share this beautiful roller set I did last week! This client wears a tapered haircut and usually gets it pressed. She wanted to try a style that would make it through the heat and unpredictable rain so we did this lovely rod set!
She only had to sit under the dryer for about 45-50 minutes and has a lovely set that will last her almost up to 2 weeks! I used a combination of (from the bottom up) yellow, pink, grey and purple rods and Kera Care setting lotion. After rods were removed, I separated the curls with end of a rat tail comb! Simple but beautiful!
Hope you like this cute style! Thanks for stopping by!
Greetings, everyone! As I posted late last week, I was teaming up with African fashion company, AfroSimplicity at the Saturday Market on the River in Augusta. Before I say anything else, I want to thank all my lovely customers for coming out and showing their support! It felt good to see so many familiar faces!
We got up super early and headed out to set up our booth. I found it to be a great success. We had a great experience and met many wonderful, new people! I take any new venture or opportunity in business as a positive learning experience!
We got many visits to our table and from passers by and fellow vendors! AfroSimplicity’s creativity and beautiful merchandise was the talk of the market that day!
We definitely enjoyed ourselves despite the intense heat and being rained out during our final hour! I can’t wait to visit the market again with more products! If you missed us but would like to view our products online, Hair Garden can be found at http://www.thehairgardennursery.etsy.com. AfroSimplicity can be found at http://www.AfroSimplicy.etsy.com. When we do go back I will be sure to keep you all posted.
Thanks for stopping by!
Stay stylish this summer and beat the heat with these lovely flat twist updos combined with rod sets! These two ladies are very active and were looking for a low-maintenance updo style that they could wear for a week or two.
This style is simply a large flat twist and rod set combo. The hair was parted at the crown and a spiral set was created with a combination of the pink and grey perm rods. I used Kera Care setting lotion. She sat under the hooded dryer for about 45-60 minutes for the curls to dry (she has thick hair!).
This style was created similarly but with smaller flat twists. The free hair at the crown was two-strand twisted and then the ends were set with the pink perm rods. She only had to sit under the dryer for about 10 minutes for the curls on the end to set!
I would love to see your version of this style! Thanks for stopping by!
