D.I.M. (Did It Myself) Styling Series: Senegalese Twists

Hello, lovely people! I learned from experience that letting others do my hair is not always the best idea. Some people can work with my hair and it is great and some people touch my hair and disturb my balance and my hair goes crazy! I’ve gone back to caring for it myself for the most part! I have been crazy over this deep purple braiding hair for a while now! I have don’t braids with it but not twists so I decided to go for Senegalese twists this time. I wanted to do them really small but it didn’t have enough time so I did what I could!

It took me 3 sessions along a period of 2 days to complete. All together. It probably took my about 8 to 10 hours. My routine is usually the same. I do the front section 1st, then the very back 2nd and the middle last! It makes the twists wearable even if I haven’t finished them yet! I wore them out on my birthday and no one could tell I wasn’t finished yet! Ha ha!

wpid-1439183369479.jpgwpid-20150810_044427.jpgI prefer to keep them up un a bun but will wear them down more to take the stress off of my edges! I just don’t like the feel of braids or any hair against my skin for extended periods of time!

My face is all puffy b/c it was almost 4am when I finished!

This style should last me 6 to 8 weeks but I plan on removing them in 4 to 6 weeks to give my hair a break since I’ve been wearing a lot of restrained styles this year. I shampoo the twists weekly and apply a light oil to my scalp and the length of the twists to protect my ends!

Hair Garden’s Herbal Hair Teas!!

Greetings, Blossoms! I want to introduce you to the latest addition to my Etsy shop! I have put together some Herbal Hair Teas for your personal at home use. WARNING!! These teas are not for consumption! They are only for use on the hair and scalp!  I usually hand-stuff the tea bags with the intention of suspending them in my oils but I want to give you all the flexibility to do other things with it as well! I also came up with some different herbal blends for specific needs!

wpid-img_20150717_130038.jpg

The tea bags come in Master blend, Growth blend, Strengthening blend, and Dandruff blend. The Master blend is a combination of the 3 later blends. Herbs and other natural ingredients such as peppermint, eucalyptus, rosemary, silica, lavender, and lecithin are used, to name a few. It is the same blend used in the Hair Garden “Herbal Tea” Tree-tment.

These herbs can be suspended in your own blend of oils. You can even brew it in warm water and make your own hair tea rinse at home. You can even brew it in water and make your own herbal treatment spray! Open the tea bags and add the oils to your favorite deep conditioner to enhance its effects!

Natural Perfumes by InScents121!

Hi there, beautiful people! As you know, I am always looking for a natural alternative to the commercial products out there and I want to share my latest find with you all!

I love to smell good and especially like scented oils. I met an awesome natural perfume maker on Etsy and just had to share her product with you all!

wpid-screenshot_2015-08-20-22-42-23-1.png

Her Etsy shop is called InScents121 and she has a wide variety of wonderful perfume oils and even makes custom orders! First and foremost, I like the fact that she uses quality natural oils and not some cheap filler stuff. Her carrier base is coconut oil and we all know how much I love coconut oil! That and her premium fragrance are the only ingredients and simple is always better for me!

I ordered the Brown Sugar & Fig scent and it was exactly what I wanted. I love sweet musky smells and it got the best of both worlds with this! It reminds me of a slightly softer smelling version of Prada Candy!

I love this oil so much and even have some on now! I put it on every evening when I get out of the shower! Pictured above is my own personal bottle! It was packaged nicely when I received it and even got a coupon code for my next order! She is always running specials and promotions so check her out!

Hey! Check out these Senegalese twists!

This look is lovely and versatile. Senegalese twists have grown very popular! We used 3 packs of X-pressions hair and the look took about 6 hours to complete.

Each look should last about a week due to her soft, natural hair texture. All she needs to d it tie it up at night to maintain the look.

Cornrows and Box Braid Ponytail

Hello, lovelies!! This style that I did was a simple but beautiful one!

The hair is cornrowed with extensions and box braided to add length and fullness to the ponytail. It was pinned into a nice high bun for low maintenance!
