Refreshing Red Haircolor!

Greetings, to to all! Got a haircolor video to share! I’m so forgetful when it comes to taking a photo of the final look! I promise I’m going to do better!

I lifted her roots to a level 6/7 and refreshed her red color using two parts #Igora L-89 and one part #Chi 8RR with 30 volume. I rodded her with red, yellow and pink perm rods for a tight long lasting curl. Check it out! I hope you like!

Big Chop and Braids!

Greetings, everyone! I wanted to share a short video of a big chop I did earlier this week!

I had a client with natural hair that had been wearing sew-ins and for a while and had damaged parts of her hair from using flat irons. She wanted all the damage gone and the rest of her hair cut to an even length. We followed that with feed-in braids to give her a low maintenance style while growing re-growing her hair.

I used shears to cut her hair and used Hair Garden’s Mint cleanser and Mango Punch Conditioner. We are looking forward to returning her to a full, healthy head of hair!

Please post any questions or comments and thanks for visiting my blog!

Hairstyles for Natural Hair (video)

Alcohol in Your Hair Products: The Bad, Good and the Facts

Hello, beautiful people! When I first went natural, I felt like I couldn’t use anything on my hair because all of the moisturizers seemed to always have alcohol in them! Sometimes as the first ingredient!

After further research, I learned that not all alcohols are created equal and that some would actually be helpful in helping me achieve moisturized hair! I wanted to share that information with you all! Hopefully, it will make you look at some of your favorite moisturizers differently!

I am looking forward to doing more videos like this! If there are any topics you would like for me to cover, please let me know. I would really appreciate it! Thanks for stopping by!

Crusty Edges? Could Be Seborrheic Dermatitis!

Greetings, everyone! I had been trying to think of a common issue that many are facing with their scalps to do a video on. Then it came to me! Seborrheic Dermatitis!

It’s something that I have dealt with on and off for many years and was finally able to combat! It’s a very common skin condition that mostly affects the area where the forehead ends and the scalp begins. Many things can trigger this but it’s many due to a pH imbalance on the skin and in the hair follicle.

I wanted to share the little bit I know about it with you! Hopefully, you will find some helpful information!

Hair Garden Brings Back Bows!

Hello, beauties! Anyone who has known me for a while knows I love a good hair accessory! My original go-to was always some sort of flower. I would get creative and create all types of designs! I had a variety of flower adorned combs, clips and pins.

One day I had an accident with my hot glue gun and decided to shelve my hairdos making project for a while.

Now I am ready to create again, only very carefully this time! Ha ha! I have started making a few headbands and clips so far. What do you think?

I’ll post more of my accessories as they come along! Thanks for stopping in!

Hair Garden’s Product Makeover

Hello, my loves!!! If you follow me on Etsy, Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, you’ve probably already seen that I am improving some existing products and introducing a new item to the line up!

A lot of my process in perfecting my product making is trial and error and please believe I have made a LOT of errors!! 😅

It took a little while to find the right ingredients because I wanted to stay as close to quality and natural ingredients as possible.

I’m excited to let you all know that I have completed my personal test runs and am ready to get these new items out to you all! Only 2 oz sizes will be available for the first couple of weeks and then 8 and 16 oz.

There will be some awesome sales going on as I finish off my old inventory to make place for the new items. I will be posting promo codes and having special sale listings!

I can’t wait to introduce these new items to you all! Thanks for all your support!

Day 3 Follow-up on Heatless Curls!

Greetings, all! I did a follow-up video to show you day 3 of my heatless perm rod set. This is my favorite point of the style. It is nice and full with wild and free curls here and there! It’s low maintenance and the look lasts until I am ready to wash it. I simply maintain it daily by applying some coconut oil or whipped shea depending on what my hair needs!

Thank you for stopping by!!

Braided Loc Updo: 1 Style, 2 Beautiful Options!

wpid-1433789640490.jpg

Hi, Lovelies! I want to share a loc style that I did over the weekend with you! I was able to create 2 great looks out of one style!

I added a little color throughout to highlight her beautiful locs. I then shampooed and conditioned this Blossoms locs with Hair Garden’s Cleanser and Mango Punch Conditioner and used the “Herbal Tea” Tree-tment on her scalp and new growth during the re-twisting process with  an occasional dab of EcoStyler. She sat under the warm dryer for about 45 minutes for we began styling.

Look #1

The locs were braided up diagonally and pinned at the crown of the head with some left draping at the sides. I over-hand braided that hair and pinned it at the bottom.

Additional styling option: The braid in the front can be taken down later for a wavy effect on the locs!

Look #2

Look #2 is my favorite! The locs were dampened with water and I added a little setting lotion before wrapping them on small perm rods. We could not find the color pipe cleaners we needed so I went with this beautiful alternative.

She sat under a warm dryer (medium heat) for about 45 minutes. I removed the rods and pinned the curls so they were secure and not dangling.

Additional styling options: Remove the hair pins for longer, looser curls. It can also be pinned up entirely into a curly bun!

Thanks for stopping by!
